The Shadow is Pyzel's new high-performance shortboard addition to the Ghost family and has quickly become a favourite among our team riders and friends.
For the 2018 Stab in the Dark project they asked for a 5' 10½" board for a surfer who was 5' 10" x 165lbs (turned out to be Mick Fanning) for waves that were good, but weren't overly powerful. Jon wanted to make something fresh and new, but to start off with something that was tried and true. Knowing that the Phantom is a great board for those types of conditions he decided to start there and redesign it as a more refined, high performance shortboard, while still keeping the added flow and glide that defines the Phantom.
The Shadow is designed to give you the advantages of a wider, forward outlined type of board but in a sleek, modern package. It features our version of a high performance outline, but with the wide point at center not behind. We pulled in the nose by almost a ½ inch and added some extra rocker through the last 12 in the nose to keep it free through critical turns. It has a gentle hip for looseness and the squash tail is pulled in to help tighten the turning radius and improve its vertical capabilities. The tail rocker and bottom concave remain nearly identical to the Phantom, which has proven to work really well in everyday conditions in waves around the world.
The thickness flow, or foil, is different from most other HPSBs, keeping the volume a little bit in front of the centre, but not overly exaggerated. This added foam under the chest area not only helps add paddle power, but it also gives you extra float under your front foot in slower sections which translates to more speed and flow.
We recommend riding the Shadow about your height or an inch over, and in your favourite high performance dimensions.
Returns Policy
Wicks Surf accepts the exchange of items within 14 days of purchase, as long as the item is returned with the original tags and the Wicks receipt. If you are no longer happy with an item you purchased, Wicks Surf will issue you a store credit or a refund. However, we do not offer any exchange or refund on sale items. If a product is faulty, we’ll do our best to replace it, and if we can’t, then we will offer a refund.
Exchange Policy
Should you find your item does not suit and you have a change of mind with your purchase we happily exchange within 14 days as long as the goods have not been used and are in original condition. We will exchange the item for a different size (if available) or for another style of equal value or greater value. It will be at the customer’s expense to return the item to Wicks Surf and pay for postage of the newly exchanged item.
To exchange your item, please email us your order details and an accompanying note explaining which size you require. Please then follow the instructions below:
- Pack all items with your invoice in a secure carton or reuse the original packaging. Please ensure that all boxed items are enclosed in a satchel or bubble wrap for protection or their return may be refused.
- Make sure you cover or remove original shipping label. Clearly write a new label for the item returning your package to: Wicks Surf Shop, ATT: Online Exchanges, 1103 Pittwater Road, Collaroy, NSW 2097
All returned items are exchanged are at your own expense.
Out of Stock Items
Occasionally a customer may purchase a product that is temporarily out of stock. In this instance we will contact the customer to give an estimated time delivery time. The customer is given the option to wait for the stock, however if the customer does not wish to receive the item any longer due to the wait, then we will happily refund the purchase.
